WEDNESDAY'S WHETTING
(CONT.)
===-===-===-===-===-===

I did it!

What did I do?

I auditioned for the "Bestor's Best Singer" competition. I only found out about it Monday, so it was a last minute decision. I wasn't prepared, but I couldn't pass it up. A local competition, just down the street. A chance to sing in the Kurt Bestor Christmas Concert, your voice on his next Christmas CD, and a trip to NY to meet some recording execs... How could I not give it a go?

I didn't tell many people about it, but the few who knew gave me some great advice and encouragement. I would have chickened out otherwise. I know the chances of winning are super slim, but I really wanted to do it for the experience. I was determined to not let my nerves get to me this time. I chose an upbeat gospel tune because I like it, and because it would be a stretch for me. My goal was to go and have fun, and not be timid about my singing. I had a great experience, gave it my best and I'm so glad I went through with it.

I wish I could tell you how it went, but I kind of blacked out in the middle of it, so, I'm not sure. I do know that I blanked out right in the beginning... I stopped in my tracks, silent, staring straight ahead for about 2 solid seconds. Then I ended up cutting it short at the end by mistake. I wonder if I looked awkward. Mr. Miller, my old choir teacher, used to say that I needed to smile more, because I looked like I was in pain.

Anyway, this is long...and I'm not going to edit, because I'm tired. All in all, I'm stoked about meeting this week's personal challenge! It was a great experience, and I would do it again in a heartbeat.

Now I just have to think of something for next Wednesday...

I am so proud of you! You did something that was out of your comfort zone and had fun with it. I don't think it will be long before this becomes more and more comfortable for you. You have an amazing voice and are such a talent. If nothing else, you had a great time, a neat experience and you followed through with something that would have been so easy to just put aside. I love you. Way to go!!!!

Way to go! We recorded the song on our small camera and want to record it again using our big HD camera because it picks up the sound much better. So get ready for your next visit/audition.
We loved seeing the kids, as always. As far as next Wed is concerned, how about cooking a famous turkey!
