A Week (plus) In Pictures...

I keep meaning to post the goings on around home, but things keep going and I can't seem to sit down long enough to get my act together. Here's a glimpse into the life of the Carter Family the last couple of weeks.

MLK Day and The DS Dilemma...

For Christmas, Oma gifted each of our children a shiny, new
Nintendo DS (think: nouveau-flip-top-stylus-toting GameBoy). We quickly discovered that DS=Instant Addiction. To ask one of them to spend one nanosecond away from their new Handheld Wonders triggers a torturous display... The picture above is a case in point (notice the pink DS on her lap).

We are trying to incorporate some clear, more sanitary boundaries now. (P.S. If you are worried that Ada will be humiliated by the posting of this picture, don't worry. To quote Ada; "Mom, you need to put this picture on the Blog TODAY, so I can see it!")

One nifty bonus my children discovered...they can draw pictures and write notes to each other "Instant Message" style. This quieter form of communication has left me doing less referreeing - but it's not because they are getting along (see below).

Wednesday Before Last
They Wanted "Blue, Like the Sky"

Finished the boy's room last Wednesday (finally). It wasn't perfect, but it's done. By-golly, it's done.

Saturday Last
THE Derby : First Place for SPEED
(Not that we care or anything. It's just for fun, right?)

Eddie was in charge of the car design, the colors, sanding and painting (with Oma's support). Dad was in charge of the power tools, and special (legal) tweaking... It was a fun morning. Grammy made a surprise visit! Eddie also got to lead the Pledge of Allegience. He took this responsibility very seriously, it was adorable.

Yesterday
Numb but Happy (Gassed)

Twins with twin cavities (yipee.) After their visit to the dentist, we asked them to smile their biggest smiles...this is all their numbed up cheeks could manage.

Today
To Perfect Forgery, One Must Start Young

Jack is already learning to forge my signature in order to get out of school work...
He tried my signature (left) before I wrote mine (right). I thought it was pretty impressive!
It's sweet and endearing now. But I have a feeling I'm in for some serious mischief in the near future!

So that's it. Never a dull moment. Thank Heavens!

I love how the blue turned out! It looks great. I love Ada; not many people can pull off posing on the potty as well as she can. And wow be careful with that Jack. That signature is scary.
