Are You Up For a Challenge?

WANTED: Girl(s) to ride bikes with.

Must have bike (preferably a road bike, but a Mountain bike will work).

A chick who will want to train for a bike race or tour would be preferred, but not necessary.
A gal that is willing to do early morning rides on occasion
.

I need somebody to ride with. There's a challenging tour/ride I am considering doing, except I need a training buddy. I don't HAVE to have one in order to do this, but it would be nice for a few reasons:

1. REINFORCEMENT: These things usually don't work out for me, unless I'm sort of accountable to someone.
2. IT'S WHAT I CAN DO: I'm a lone girl in my bike world and everyone else is a runner. I can't be a runner. My arthritic knee can't handle it. My doctor strongly discourages it. And my husband has threatened my very life if I'm not obedient to doctor's orders (I'm slightly exaggerating. He apparently does not want to be wheeling me around everywhere I go over the next 50 years).
3. I'M CHICKEN: So often I wake in the morning (having prepared for a bike ride the night before) only to think up excuses like; it's too dark, too far, too wet, to cold, to hot etc.- to be riding alone.

My brother is a good sport, but I don't think he can stand to train with me ALL the time... He's too fit. And he's on hiatus right now due to an injury. He is also mainly a runner. Although, if you're interested in this Jonny... it would be awesome. It's at least as tough as a marathon...I know you don't want any wimpy challenges, now that you're one of those endurance athlete kind of guys ;)

I'll bring the fitness goodies/bars...we'll train for the ithinkicanyons century ride, and be superfit, superfabulous, superfast ladies come September. (It's close by &
it's for a good cause). It will be challenging and fun. We'll see the seasons change in the canyons and in the Salt Lake Valley - you won't regret it.

I haven't fully committed to this yet. But I need to decide what I'm going to do pretty soon, because I'm not sure I could get to the point where I could climb Little Cottonwood alone, and then add 3 more canyons in one day...

You must be out there...somewhere????

(Am I going to have to do this alone? I'm not sure I have the guts.)

::sigh::

Good luck finding a buddy for that one, Mis...you shouldn't have shown the poster!! Just kidding! I'm not sure I wish it could be me, but I am sure I wish I had to decide if it were! I love you, and I think you should do it, even if you do it alone. YOU would never regret it!

"IthinkIcanyons" sounds pretty ambitious! Good luck!

I love road biking. If we were living the the U-T, I would train with you in a heartbeat.

I was just saying to Sam yesterday that I would like to get a bike. If I get one in the next few weeks, I'll be your buddy. But, no promises on the tour!

I would love to ATTEMPT this ride and see how it goes. I am Jaye's favorite hair stylist in case you are wondering. I live close to your area and ride like crazy. I am currently working to ride 15 hours a week but usually get to 12. Let me know if you want to join my rides, Tuesday mornings are our set day and then some. Julie Minert
