While wandering through the aisles at the grocery store today, I passed a man in sweats and a coat. His hair was disheveled and he basically looked like he JUST rolled out of bed. It was 12:30 in the afternoon.
I thought to myself, "Wow Guy, make at least an EFFORT."
And then I laughed. Out loud. Because I realized that Mr. Saturday-Morning probably looked a whole lot better than I did. I mean, I woke up late this morning and when I got out of bed, aside from putting on last night's clothes, I just kept going. I had been on all sorts of errands (in public) and realized I had NO idea how I looked.
So when I got home, I took a good look in the mirror and laughed again, because this is what I saw:
*** I had serious raccoon eyes from last nights mascara.
*** My unwashed, crazy-wild hair was in a bun of course - and despite my attempts to pin them down (without the aid of a mirror) - I had wispies galore, flyin' all over the place.
*** I was wearing jeans that had food smeared all over them from last night's dinner.
***And my coat looks filthy. It's not filthy, I wash it every week. But it looks filthy because I wear my puffy coat constantly during the winter, so it's got stains on it and patches and stuff.
*** While gazing at myself, I tried to remember if I had even brushed my teeth yet today (I know, SICK!).
I'm not sure that you could call this experience ironic. But I certainly think it's funny.
That's it. Now I'm going to take a shower and try to remember not to judge so hastily in the future.

I love how candid you are!
lol! that is funny! I do the same thing though, sometimes I take Noah to preschool in dirty levi's and my pajama top, or visa versa... lol! And yeah... I've totally forgot to brush my teeth before on one or more occasions. :o)
Isn't it the truth. I am amaze myself sometimes at what I will wear out of the house. I love your blog by the why. You always hit it right on the nail!
you've just given the "man of routine" nightmare material.
That is laugh-out-loud funny! That was a belly-laugher for me and you know why? Because it sounds oh so familiar. I am sometimes surprised I have any clothes on at all when I get to the store.
