Valentine Goodie, Day #10: Unrequited

Have you ever been here? Ohhhhhh I have... You feel like you are the only one when it happens to you, until one day, when you read it in some world poetry book and you think, "oh yes. That's exactly how it was."

This is for all those who have been left feeling lame and sad and duped and humiliated and infuriated and altogether forlorn --all in the name of "love".

Because let's face it, love is all those things, sometimes.

A MEMORY

When he grew pale, and his voice trembled,
And suddenly he could no longer speak;
When his eyes, burning beneath the lid,
Gave me a wound I thought he felt alike;
When all his charms, lighted by a fire
That has never faded,
Were printed in the depth of my desire,
He did not love. I did.

well, the subject of unrequited love is heartbreaking. THE PAINTED VEIL was a very moving movie that captured perfectly this very topic.

When I read A MEMORY I felt the wound of unmatched desire or rather no desire...how is it that we fool ourselves so? xox
