We usually spend the Monday before Halloween Carving pumpkins as a Family Night activity. We had great fun. First we have dinner (soup with bread bowls)-and then - the mess. I have to gear up mentally all day for the impending slimy, stringy, orangey, seedy chaos . But it's worth it in the end. And luckily, this year I did not attempt to roast pumpkin seeds. It doesn't seem to be a tricky thing. But, I have tried in years past and just can't seem to manage it. Traditions are for modification when necessary, right?

we actually did roast seeds this year. only because grace saved them all from her pumpkin and insisted...surprisingly, the kids liked them.
I had it fairly easy this year. We carved pumpkins for our young women activity and I had to bring my kids, so they had lots of help.
Yay for blogging!
