A Blog Ammendment... Please Help Me Fill in the Blank!

===-===-===-===-===

I have such kind family and friends. They (you) are so nice and encouraging about my blog. I appreciate this more than you realize. Every other week or so I have a sudden surge of extreme self-consciousness about what I have revealed. In these moments, I feel compelled to delete the whole thing and start keeping my beeswax to myself...

I won't. I'll keep the blog. After today though I've decided that one thing absolutely has to change: The "Wednesday's Whetting" fiasco has gone on far too long. I mean, seriously, WHY/HOW did I even come up with this cockamamie idea?

My intentions were good. In my hours upon hours of blogstocking, I noticed a trend. Many creative bloggers have a weekly "thing". Some people have a "Flashback Friday". (I would wholeheartedly steal this idea, except my computer is not currently hooked up to the printer/scanner to enable me to post pre-digital photos )... Other people have "What's For Dinner Wednesday"...which I also love, but after about 3 weeks, everyone would pretty much be able to guess "what's for dinner" at my house: (rice and beans, waffles, or grilled cheese with tomato soup).

Still, I wanted to be in the "weekly-catchy-phrase-blog-niche" club. But I also wanted to distinguish myself, so I created my own niche - A weekly challenge - How fun! My problem however, was finding a title. You see, there is an unwritten law that requires a blog-niche title to follow the "alliteration rule". And so, with the help of my on-line thesaurus, I finally came up with "Wednesday's Whetting".

Many of you have asked what this actually means. Here is a definition:

whet·ting, noun
–verb (used with object)
1.to sharpen (a knife, tool, etc.) by grinding or friction.
2.to make keen or eager; stimulate: to whet the appetite; to whet the curiosity.

So based on this definition, I hoped to conjure an image somewhat like this one:

You know, like Stephen Covey's "sharpen the saw" metaphor?

Many of you have graciously confessed that instead of the above image, the mind's eye visualizes something more along the lines of...

Honestly, I couldn't agree more. It never really clicked with me and quite frankly, the title often deterred me from creating a weekly challenge.

The uh, bottom line (waka waka) is this: alliteration isn't everything.

I've been wondering for a while if the whole idea (not just the name) isn't a tad silly. However, many of you have been very complimentary and encouraging about my simple, semi-weekly goals. Trivial as they are, blogging a challenge gets me to do more than I would otherwise. So I think I'll keep the niche, but the name has GOT to go! Now I just have to decide...

What to call it? I would LOVE any ideas :) I would also love any other "niche" ideas, as well. Like "Satchel Saturday" or "Sunday's Soup" (can you see that I need serious help here?)
