Catch up Blog

Why is it that I think I have nothing to blog about (or time to do it) and then, suddenly, I have a hoard of things I wish to post?

I am aware that almost none of this will be remotely interesting to the masses. Still, I will attempt to "catch up". I can hear my Dad (John) now, reciting a poem I've heard many, many times:

Procrastination is my sin,
It brings me naught but sorrow.
I know that I should stop it.
In fact, I will! - tomorrow.

A LIST OF TEN random THINGS ABOUT THE GOINGS ON
with pictures. (So as not to be too tedious to read)...

1. SPONGEBRAIN:

My current paycheck-job involves watching the same play over and over (I've seen it 30 times now). I'm noticing my language has changed and I'm beginning to act like the characters in the play. I'm beginning to wonder if I even have my own authentic personality?

2. SPRING:
I've got the fever like I've never had before. This warmer weather, the longer days, it's making me downright giddy... (this artwork can be purchased here).

3. BIRD'S EYE VIEW (sort of):

Last week a HAWK decided to chill on our rusty back porch railing. We were all upstairs, so we all got to see this beautiful bird through our back door. This was as close as I dared get.

4. EASTER SUNDAY:

Was so fun. Eddie and Ada's baskets were too easy to find. Jack's took a bit longer. He'd look for a minute then complain. His brother and sister, having compassion, would share a bit of their candy and then Jack would start looking again.

That afternoon we had my parents (Tim & Lynne), Sam's brother & sister (Dave & Laurel) over for a barbecue. It was mellow and fun. True to form, I forgot to take pictures.

We ended the evening by playing a little Uno with the kids. For the kids, Uno is a passionate, love-hate endeavor. For the parents, playing with them is thoroughly entertaining!

5. SPRING BREAK/SPRING CLEANING:

A week off work (yea!). Kids home (double yea!) We plan to party! This is a photo of Jack turning a broken drum into a superhero costume. See why I love having them home during the day?)

6. HAIR-BRAINED?

I went to an actual salon...The result is quite a bit different than my usual messy bun look. I walked out of there looking like Posh Spice (sans the tan, cleavage, size zero body, oh, and the hair....but I FELT like her for about 30 minutes). I like it! Or, I liked it. As of this morning, I can officially say it will never look like it did yesterday (I can't do my hair). Ah, well... It was fun while it lasted.

7. MMMmmmoment of Glory...

After several mishaps, I finally figured out how to make the yummiest chocolate whipped cream frosting. But I didn't write down the measurements (my cooking-life story).

8. SPRING BREAK (continued):

Oma took the kids to a skate park. Again, I forgot my camera. They loved it. I am excited to have discovered a new (FREE) fun activity to enjoy this summer! Plus, I figure if we go soon after my kiddos wake up - we won't run into any teenagers until noon at least...

9. BLISS BLOG:

I have another blog: the Bliss Blog. I started it a while ago, then stopped. I think I will start it up again. Each day should have a few moments dedicated to pure gratitude.

10. FAMILY NIGHT at the Climbing Gym:

We climbed and played until we about dropped. Afterwards, we managed to eat some dinner at Cafe Rio and then we dragged ourselves home - happy and tired. A few observations of the evening:

* Ada, was a good little climber! She has to focus on balance, use both sides of her body all while increasing strength and flexibility. She did all of this quite capably. I also noticed, that despite her sleepy right half, she still runs as fast as the other kids. I confess I got a lump in my throat watching her yesterday. I'm so thankful for that girl and her resilience. She is sunshine to my soul.

* Jack was down-right panic stricken when tied to safely to a rope, but would climb to nerve-racking heights when bouldering on his own...we can't explain it, but we know this - he has the moves, that's for sure!

*Eddie really impressed me. You see, he inherited a healthy dose of batophobia from his mother. But he conquered his fear, despite his shaking legs, and climbed all the way to the top of the wall. I'm so proud of him! When I was his age, I couldn't even hike down into Bryce Canyon on that WIDE dirt road for fear of accidentally tripping (and somehow rolling or sliding 15 feet across the trail) to my death.

This feat earned him his very own chalk bag. :)

So that's it. LONG post. I will NEVER do this again (it took a ridiculous amount of time and all I have to show for it is a huge, scrambled post). But now I feel mostly caught up on the Blog front.
Now to the laundry...

LOL! Love the post! I can't wait to see your hair-cut! I have been waiting for my courage to rise up and let me don something like that. By the way, I have been thinking about my famous person kindred spirit... Rachel Ray... Yeah, I think she and I would get along great. She could do the cooking and I'd eat it...

I agree with Amanda, I can't wait to see the hair! I'm sure it is darling. I am the same way with never being able to do hair. It is not my talent.
