Just of few of the beauties in this day consist of; perfect fall temperatures and a van that works (a.k.a 'Shrek') and a boy who lays next to me on the bed and chats.
Ever since my boy could move himself away from me, he has always made a point to "check in" several times a day.
As a baby, he would explore and play and then army crawl to me and just sit on my lap for a while.
I remember noticing this was a regular thing, and particular to Jack, when he was three years old. We were vacationing somewhere with family and I noticed how, several times a day, he stopped playing with cousins and came to sit on my lap for a while.
He still does this. Taking regular breaks from playing with friends, he marches in - tall and skinny - a full-fledged boy covered in dirt. He sits at the table next to me and sighs, "How you doin', Mom?" We hang out for a bit and chat. Then he heads out again.
Today he asked me what Dad and I are going to do when the nest is empty. I said (with a wink) that I will cry and tear my hair out and not know what to do with myself. He smiled. I then said (soberly) that he better come and visit.
"Oh. I will" - he says.
I know it. And it makes me grateful to have been gifted with such a darling. To count only the blessings that come from having a boy like Jack are ample enough to get me through any day.

This is so sweet. It reminds me of yesterday when Nate told me that he's going to visit me everyday when he's a dad. I'm so glad you record these precious things. I need to follow your lead:) such lucky moms we are;)
Can you believe how big your twins are? I remember when we started book club and you had these twin BABIES!!! It scares me to death that it is gone in a blink of an eye.
