Give Oh Give...

I'm doing another giveaway. Don't worry, this one has a time limit (so you'll actually get your surprise by the end of the decade). I couldn't resist. Two amazingly talented people I know posted this giveaway and I just had to see what they would come up with!

HOW IT WORKS:

The first 5 people to comment on this post will receive something, made by me-especially for you.

This offer does have some restrictions and limitations:

1- I make no guarantees that you will like what I make.
2- What I create will be just for you.
3- It'll be done by the end of April.
4- You have no clue what it's going to be. It could be something crafty or practical or edible. It might be fancy or simple - it's a surprise! But I promise to try and make it good!

THE CATCH
Oh, the catch is that you must re-post this on your blog and offer the same to the first 5 people who do the same on your blog.

P.S. I've signed up for two of these. HINT: Check back the first Monday in April if you want to play again...

Telluride (Music Tag)...

This is kind of a teeny-bopper game, but I'm doing it for three reasons:
  1. Because Jill did it, and she's cool. And her music list was awesome.
  2. Because I am in a music rut and sick of listening to the same things all the time. If someone else plays this game, I can make some discoveries... ;)
  3. I'm feeling blue and so I'm playing games until I feel like writing something that doesn't sound whiny.

The rules: Go to the shuffle setting on your MP3 player. Answer each question with title of the next song that comes up. No skipping, even if it doesn't make sense!

***(I added one thing: I skipped if there was a repeat artist).

WHAT WOULD BEST DESCRIBE YOUR PERSONALITY?

What I learned from this game:
  1. Be forwarned if you play: There is a slight urge to make these songs mean something. And when it doesn't make sense, you will be tempted to skip to the next song...
  2. There is a LOT of cleaning up I need to do. So much music to weed through and get rid of.

TAG, You're IT! (If you want)

4.9.08

The Dark Days of my Youth-Relived.

Dear Ann,

Because I like you and because I'm a good sport - and because I choose to believe I am not the same girl I was - I will play along with this tag. Who knows, maybe this will be therapeutic for me? Or at least make others, by comparison, feel so much better about themselves.

:HIGH SCHOOL TAG:

1.
Did you date someone from your school? Yes.

2.
What kind of car did you drive? My dad owned a dealership at the time, so I changed cars every few months or so. I remember driving; a Geo Prism (crapcar), various colors of Jeep Cherokees (got pulled over out of suspicion a few times with these), Geo Tracker, Pontiac Grand Am (surprisingly sweet car), Pontiac somethingelse, um...that's all I can remember. When I turned 18 I got my own car (I know, SPOILED). It was a periwinkle Eagle Summit, and the MOST AWESOME CAR EVER!!!

3.
What was the most embarrassing moment of HS? Grades 10-12. I remember being a completely hyper idiot on several different occasions...I can remember the looks on people's faces. It makes me feel stupid to recall it. Boy I love this tag.

4. Were you a party animal? If you consider "locking yourself in your room like a hermit until your 11 year old neighbor comes over and asks if you will play basketball with him, and you do"- being a party animal, then yes, yes I was.

5.
Were you considered a flirt? Did you read the answer to #4? No. I was smiley and friendly and quite charming, if I did NOT have the hots for you. If I did, I was completely backward and idiotic.

6. Were you in band, orchestra, or choir? Choir.

7. Were you a nerd?
Yes. But not in the smart way like Ann. I lacked self-confidence in social situations (though I did have a handful of really great friends)- in that way I was a nerd. And I took myself WAAAAAAY too seriously.

8.
Were you on any varsity teams? Negatory. (A word I heard a lot in high school).

9.
Did you get suspended/expelled? Almost-- In my last semester of school I had an average of 37 tardies in each class, and I almost didn't graduate. I was only on time 5 days in my first period class. I lucked out though. I had knee surgery my senior year (last semester) and when I went hobbling in to speak to the counselor, crutches and all, I gained instant sympathy and all tardies were excused. I didn't mention that I'd only had the crutches for a week.

10. Can you still sing the fight song? Da-Nanana Da-nanana SKYLINE! Da-nanana Da-nanana SKY....

11.
Who were your favorite teachers? My honors Physics teacher (Davis?). I had NO business taking that class and he knew it. But I passed, because I had a nice smile (honestly, he said that!) And finally Mr. James Miller - my choir teacher.

12. Where did you sit during lunch? Sophomore year; My locker, by myself. Junior year; (I had a friend!) we ate outside and scoped out the boys we liked. Senior year; I went home every day and ate lunch there, by myself.

13. School mascot? Go Eagles!

14.
Did you go to homecoming, and with who? 10th - Nobody 11th - Rob Stosich, 12th -I was sending off a missionary at the time, I don't think I went.

15.
If you could go back and do it again, would you? Taking into consideration the ulcer that is forming just by answering these questions, I think my answer would have to be NO.

16.
What do you remember most about graduation? I liked my dress, I couldn't wait for it to be over with and I was leaving for Lake Powell the next day, so I was thinking mostly about that. I couldn't WAIT to get out of there.

17.
Where did you go senior skip day? I was vacationing at Lake Powell. My awesome Madrigal friends got a yearbook for me and passed it around for people to sign. What awesome people. I wouldn't have one otherwise. They were a cool group. I was an ingrate and a lousy friend, you know it?

18.
Were you in any clubs? No.

19.
Have you gained some weight since then? Gained and lost, then gained and so on... ;). I'm close to my high school weight right now (for better or worse). And I think it varied in high school. I never knew my weight in high school. I don't like this question.

20.
Who was your prom date? 10th - didn't go, 11th - SAM CARTER I loved that boy (still do)! 12th - Stephen Bullock (a fun date!) Anthony Scharrier asked me too, even though he knew I'd already been asked, just to make me feel good. What a guy!

21.
Are you planning on going to your 10 year reunion? It's already passed (2005). I only regret missing out on the Madrigal reunion.

22.
Looking back, what advice would you give yourself? RELAX! Don't be afraid to ask questions, or look stupid. Like yourself enough to get dressed and try to look cute and put yourself out there a little. Oh, and if the basketball coach asks you to try out, then you're probably good enough to make the team. And PLEASE don't get in class debates over symbolism in novels you DIDN'T ACTUALLY READ (Come on, who did you think your were fooling?). And finally, RE.LAX. (Did I already say that?).

Okay, I'm going to go throw up now.

But first, I tag 5 people (Your Welcome): Amanda, Melissa Shepherd, Brittany (both), Melinda.

You Think You Know Me...

Brittany Tagged me! I'm it!

Married almost a year. I was pregnant with Eddie, but wouldn't know it until April 1st. Living downtown, I walked to work at the Salt Lake Clinic. Sam was attending LDS Business College. It would be nearly a year before Sam discovered his other true love (mandolin).

5 things on my to do list...
  • Go get a drink of water.
  • Plan girls backpacking trip - anyone interested?
  • Adopt.
  • Finish Ada's room.
  • Lose about 10 pounds (I had serious muffin top when I put on my jeans today.)

3 bad habits...
(Narrow it down to only three?
hmmm...)
  • SERIOUS Nail Biter. To the nibs.
  • SERIOUS knuckle, back, and neck cracker.
  • SERIOUS wise-cracker. (Just kidding).
  • BIG TIME, ALL THE TIME DAYDREAMER.
Places I have lived...

Starting from birth: Orem, then Orem, then Sandy, then Great Falls (Montana), then Sandy, then Salt Lake, then Salt Lake, then Holladay, then Salt Lake, then Sugarhouse, then South Salt Lake...

What can I say? I like to move around, see the world...

What I would do if I suddenly became a millionaire...

Who says that I'm not? First of all, I wouldn't tell anyone. But you'd know because I'd totally revamp and add on to my house. Adopt a bunch of kids and go on traveling adventures. I'd probably have a cabin at Bear Lake, a condo in Hawaii, and a castle in Switzerland...(wait - did you say millionaire, or billionaire?)

Truthfully, I have no idea what I'd do.

Jobs I have had...
  • Boutique worker
  • Bussed tables at Cowboy Grub
  • Bagger at Dan's Grocery
  • File Clerk/Receptionist at Primary Children's Hospital, then at Salt Lake Clinic
  • Data Entry for ACS/Blue Cross Blue shield
  • Accounts Receivable/Collections for a friend's ISP business
  • Personal Trainer at Bally's Fitness
  • Owner of LivingFit
  • Temple Worker (Cleaned at night--super fun job!)
  • Boxed Book Fair displays at Scholastic Warehouse
  • PR Rep for Intermountain Health Care - school health assemblies

5 things you don't know about me...
  1. I've had a strong desire to adopt ever since I was a young girl.
  2. Two nights ago I had the most violent dream... People were after me. But I escaped, somehow (Phew!).
  3. I eat sweetened condensed milk straight from the can. With a spoon. I'd prefer it over most candy/desserts.
  4. I've watched Anne of Green Gables about a million times. I used to rewind my favorite scenes over and over... and I enjoy it as much as I did when I was 14.
  5. I would like to take hula dancing lessons.
Tag! Now You're It!
  1. Cristie and Jerry
  2. Nicol
  3. Rachael
  4. Alison
  5. Lauralee

How about a game of "I SPY" ?

BAG TAG

Okay, so I've been bag- tagged by Ali...I'll play, but this is pretty humiliating. It could've been worse. Three days ago I just threw away about 50 crumpled up pieces of paper, receipts and an embarrasing amount of candy bar wrappers. I'm so glad I didn't get tagged last week!

How it works:
1. Show a picture of your bag.
2. Show a picture of ALL the contents in your bag (no cleaning it out first!)
3. "Bag Tag" five people.

Here it is... I love this bag. A birthday gift from my mother in law.

And inside (dum, da dum, dum)...

*keys
*gum
*phone

Okay, I tag...
1. Mary B.
2. Cristie C.
3. Brittany V.
(everyone else I know has already been tagged I think, so that's it!)

3.12.07

I've been tagged...

...by my sister in law, Brittany. This means I must list 6 facts about myself (Brit, I'm stealing your picture idea). and then I tag 6 people, and hopefully learn more about them. So here it goes:

FACT 1. I HATE shopping. I get physically ill when I have to go. I like new things, I love giving presents to others. I think the problem is that I'm indecisive. You can't ask me to purchase something and commit to liking it forever...it's sheer anxiety. On my list today, was to pick up some new undies for my boys. How hard can it be? I stood there, debating my choices for like, 14 minutes. For little boy's underwear of all things. (what is wrong with me?) You'd think I would look like Miss Fashionista being this fastidious about my choices, instead, I refuse to purchase things. It refuse to try. It's weird but it's true. I know Hate is a strong word. I'm probably just having a knee-jerk reaction to the fact that I spent a whole day driving around from place to place (including HellMart*) with mobs of other people, trying to get all my Christmas shopping over with in a single day.

FACT 2. I love books. I love to be surrounded by books. There is an endless amount of ideas and information out there! The library is one of my favorite places. There's just one catch. I am NOT an avid reader. Why all the books, then? I think it's because I grew up in a home chock-full of books and bookshelves galore (except my parents actually read the books). So it feels like home. Except when it feels like strangulation. Like the time I had a $100.00 library fine, back in 2002. No exaggeration. It IS possible to rack up those numbers when you check out 30 books at a time...it makes me sick to think about it. Now I give myself a limit of 6, and am trying to work it down to only one book per person, at a time (in order to motivate me to actually read each one). One bonus; I could teach a class on speedy skimming- and getting the gist- out of any self-help book in 60 minutes or less.

FACT 3. I'm a blabber. And I'm wordy. I know you know this already, I'm just letting you all know that I know it too, and plan to work on it. After this entry.

FACT 4. I really wanted to sing in the Kurt Bestor concert. Ever since I heard the "clap your hands and shout Hallelujah!" version of O Come All Ye Faithful at his concert ten years ago, I wanted to sing that song on the stage. Ah, well. That's the breaks. I would also love to belt out a solo on the stage of the Assembly Hall at Temple Square. The acoustics in there are amazing!

FACT 5. I never meant to lead people into thinking I could actually play the Ukulele...Yes, I strummed, and muffled my way through one evening, but I do not qualify as a "Ukulele-er/ist" by ANY stretch.

FACT
6. People think I'm tough. But I'm a wimp. I guess people assume I'm tough because I'm built sturdy, have a loud voice, and like to talk smack with my brothers... it's a facade. It's one big charade. I'm the coward of cowards. Have you ever seen me climb even a small step ladder? Or stand up to some puny, line-butting, punk teenager? Didn't think so. My desire for approval, to be agreeable, far outweighs any bull-headed toughness I may seemingly personify.
----------------------------------------

*P.S. regarding Walmart jab*I know that justification of one's discretion is often fruitless and misguided, and if I wasn't so yella, I'd stand by my semi-profanity regardless of what any one thinks. But I certainly hope not to offend and so here is my paltry excuse for the use of my "clever" play on words;

If, after this blessed life, things don't work out in my favor and I'm sentenced to eternal damnation, with constant sorrow and lamenting, and no sight of escape or rest... I know where that place is (for me, anyway). I was there today. And if that place doesn't scare me straight, I don't know what will. That's all I'm going to say.

Nope, that's not all I'm going to say. I still need to tag 6 blog-people (you Luckies). I hope you do these, because I like reading 'em:

Alison, Katie, Jerry, Cristie, Ed, Phil. Tag. You're It!
